How do I install the tiles? Do I just stick them on?
In short, applying peel and stick tiles is as easy as in:
1. Clean
2. Measure
3. Cut
4. Peel
5. Stick & Interlock
Ah and enjoy! That’s the most important part.
For a full installation guide on how to apply our self-adhesive wall tiles check out our How to Install.
Do peel and stick tiles involve any prepwork? (yeah we all really dislike prepwork!)
We know you probably don’t want to hear this, but as with any DIY project, prepping is the key ingredient for success. However, for these tiles, it’s minimal because you don’t have to rip out your old tiles, take them to the dump and then spend truck loads of hours trying to smooth your wall.
This is all you need to do:
- Give the surface a proper clean with a powerful grease remover
- Make sure it’s completely dry before installing the tiles
- And remember if you’re applying the tiles to a painted surface you’ll achieve better adhesion if you sand it with a high grit sandpaper first
Do you have a physical store or showroom where I can view, touch and feel the tiles?
Sorry we don’t. We have made our best effort to make sure that our products are presented as close to what they look like in real life as possible. If for any reason you change your mind after your purchase, we offer an awesome 30 day returns policy on unopened packages.
How big are the tiles? I want to make sure that the size is right for my project.
Check out each product description as it varies depending on the design. Most of our tiles are 30.5cm x 30.5cm. The tiles are either 2mm or 2.5mm thick. That is thicker than most other budget peel and stick tiles. The extra thickness makes them hide grout lines and other imperfections underneath way better.
So there’s no need trying to find a tile size that exactly matches your existing ones as when you’ve applied our peel and stick tiles, your old ceramic tiles will be completely covered no matter where the grout lines are.
Can the tiles be removed? I mean I like to change things up.
Yes they can be removed with the help of a hair dryer or a heat gun. Then you can just select a new design for your latest decor trend. They may leave some glue residue and depending on what surface you’ve installed them on, we can’t guarantee that the surface will remain completely undamaged.
So the self-adhesive tiles can be used in the bathroom!? Can you be a bit more specific?
Yes, the peel and stick tiles are great for bathrooms as long as you stick them to the walls and don’t install them in the shower or shower over bath. Best is to seal the edges with a silicone.
Are the peel and stick tiles resistant to water?
Yes, the surface of the peel and stick tiles are resistant to water and you can with ease install them as a splash back and splash away.
No way can these peel and stick tiles be heat resistant?
We understand your concern but the tiles have heat insulation properties and are resistant to the heat of stove tops. We actually had to test them ourselves and poured boiling hot water on them and even put a pot directly from the stove on top without leaving a single mark. Please note that they should not be installed directly behind a gas hob or near an open flame.
Can the self-adhesive tiles be installed behind the cooktop in the kitchen?
Yes they can but they should not be installed directly behind a gas hob. Then a back panel that is at least 600mm high and 400mm wider than the cocktop must be used. Leave a minimum of 20cm gap between the tiles and any open flame.
You should always check your stove top installation guide and it's required directions to a heat source.
I’ve heard that peel and stick tiles can be used on top of existing ceramic tiles. Is that really true?
Yes the tiles are cleverly designed so that they can go directly on top of existing flat ceramic tiles. Their extra thickness makes them hide grout lines and imperfections even better than other thinner peel and stick tiles
How durable are the Peel & Stick Hub tiles?
The tiles have an extra strong bonding glue and will stay up on your walls for as long as you want them to.
What special tools do I need to install the tiles?
To install the tiles you actually don’t need a lot of tools and you probably have most of them around the home anyhow. We have a recommended list of tools you can use if you’re after that perfect finish:
- grease remover
- craft knife
- scissors
- pen
- craft mat
- metal edge ruler
- tape measure
- level
How many packs do I need for my project?
Use our no brain calculator and you will know exactly how many tiles you’ll need for your project. All you need to do is to measure the surface correctly and add the numbers into the fields. Easy peasy!
We always recommend adding an extra pack just to allow for a few oopsies. There’s nothing worse than being short of products when you’re installing. You can always return any left over unopened packs you may have.
How many tiles are there in each package?
Each pack of tiles includes 4 sheets. We also sell them as single sheets if you wish to try before committing to a whole pack.
If I need more tiles of the same design can I then be assured you will have them in stock?
We always try to keep sufficient amounts in stock but may run out at times. Some designs might stay with us longer and others might only be a quick fluke of fashion. Unfortunately we can’t guarantee that a certain design will always be restocked. We always recommend buying 10-20% more than what you need so that you know for sure that you can complete your project. Our 30 day returns policy allows you to return any unopened packs.
How do I look after my new tiles best? Are they easy to clean?
The peel and stick tiles are very easy to clean. All you really need is a wash up liquid or glass cleaner and a damp cloth. These tiles are more durable than most self-adhesive tiles on the market and not as sensitive to high pigmented products such as curry and coffee stain. We still advice that you take care with highly pigmented products around the tiles and attend to any splatters immediately just to be on the safe side.
I really love your peel and stick tiles. Do you sell any more DIY products?
Yes we actually do. Peel & Stick Hub is a brand of Vinyl Home. If you haven’t already you can find more amazing premium DIY products there.
